Sally Beale

Sally Beale

Sally Beal is a descendant of the Angedool Ualaroi Tribe, located on the New South Wales Queensland boarder. Sally has been making jewellery for many years, using materials sourced from traditional Aboriginal bush tucker such as echidna quills and emu feathers, which she combines to make her unique Australian jewellery. Sally also uses small beads in the Aboriginal colours of red, black and yellow as well as combinations of black and white beads to represent reconciliation. Recently Sally and her daughter Kerrie have introduced wooden beads, which they paint in intricate dot designs. Various designs are depicted on the beads - bush tucker, native animals, handprints of the Elders passing culture to the next generation, rivers, waterholes, the ocean, campfires and sacred ceremonies among some of the designs that feature on the beads. The inspiration for Sally's art comes from a desire to share and maintain her culture and heritage. She describes her art as heart felt!
