Mundara Koorang

Mundara Koorang was born in the Eora (Sydney) Community and is a descendant of the Gamilaroi People of the Moree area. His totem is the snake which is often seen in his art works. Mundara is an Internationally renowned Indigenous Artist, exhibiting in Cologne Germany as part of ?Experience 95? and in Russia as part of the first Australian Indigenous Art exhibition. Mundara has won many art and photographic awards including the first ?Sorry Day? Poster Competition and several Naidoc Awards. The most comprehensive Indigenous law book ?Indigenous People and the Law in Australia? features Mundara?s artwork on the cover and inserts, along with the community and student ?Mabo and Land Rights? packages. ?Alcheringa Spirit? an Australian Limestone sculpture by Mundara is displayed in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission foyer in Sydney and his painting of the ?Ice Dancers? is hung at the Sydney Dance Theatre. Mundara holds a Bachelors Degree in Education and is currently studying a Masters Degree in Indigenous Social Policy at the University of Technology, Sydney. He is the Managing Director of the House of Koorang Pty Ltd and a Director of the National Indigenous Arts Advocacy Association the producers of the ?Label of Authenticity?. In 2000 the first product to be sold in Australia displaying the ?Label of Authenticity? was Mundara?s.
