Dudley Dennis

Dudley Dennis

Dudley is a member of the Gumilaroi people in Western New South Wales. Dudley was born and lives in Walgett. He has been carving emu eggs for over 30 years, a tradition which was passed on to him by his uncle Frank (Skippy) Dennis. Dudley uses a shearing shear to carve intricate scenes of Australian wildlife and portraits of family members. All of Dudley?s designs are created from memory. He does not refer to any image when carving and works directly onto the surface. Each egg takes him one day to complete and his eggs are purchased from licensed emu egg farms.
