
David was born in Moree, N.S.W and is part of the Kamilaroi Nation. He is a self taught artist who has painted and drawn for most of his life.
David has been living in Kempsey in the mid north coast of N.S.W since 1981. He was among the first 'Urban' Aboriginal artists to be recognised by a mainstream institution - The Art Gallery of New South Wales in their "Australian Perspecta - A Koori Perspective" in 1989. His work has been selected for other important Aboriginal exhibitions around Australia and he has work in the following collections; Australian National Museum, Powerhouse Museum, Armidale Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Heritage Centre, Boomali Aboriginal Artists Co-operative.
