I am a traditional land owner and a direct descendant of the ?Maliangapa/Paakantji? people of the Darling River, Western NSW in a small town ?Wilcannia?.
I was very privileged that I grew up amongst people like my grandmother, who spoke the Paakantyi language and practiced her Aboriginal culture. The language was passed down to family members and is spoken fluently in Wilcannia.
I believe influence and inspiration for my work was develop as a child growing up in the bush and listening to stories about my grandmother,As a young girl, my grandmother was taught to stitch skin rugs with threads of animal sinew, and make dilly-bags from woven grass.
Over the years the desire to learn and practice my Aboriginal culture has led me into the field of jewellery making and Aboriginal art.
