I am a descendant of the Wiradjuri nation, the largest Aboriginal nation in central western New South Wales. The name Giwang is a Wiradjuri word meaning moon for which I am named. I was brought up in the inner city of Sydney and my work reflects the contemporary nature of Aboriginal society.
I am also a teacher with the Department of Education & Training and am currently working in the secretariat conducting a review into Aboriginal Education in New South Wales.
As an active member of the Inner City local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and Aboriginal Members Committee of the New South Wales Teachers Federation, I am dedicated to improving Aboriginal education in my region
